A Life of Great Meaning
Refuge Day & Guided Retreat with Kadam Lucy James.
With the world in increasing crisis, what can we turn to for real protection? And how can we become true sources of protection for others?
Buddhism is the practice of Buddha’s teachings, also known as Dharma, which means “protection.” Buddha’s teachings explain how to overcome states of mind that cause suffering, bringing real protection to ourselves and others.
Buddha’s teachings are universal. In this diverse world, they unite everyone regardless of background, race or religion. The key to tapping into the immeasurable compassion and wisdom within Buddhadharma is turning to the Three Jewels – Buddha, Dharma and Sangha. Through receiving Buddha’s blessings and the help and support of Sangha, our pure spiritual friends, we will have all the support we need to progress in our practice of Dharma.
In this way, the Three Jewels of Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha are our real refuge from suffering and problems. Without them, we are exposed to the pain of negative states of mind and daily problems, and our world is a reflection of these. Gradually, the Three Jewels become a deeper and deeper actual refuge for us, an oasis of peace and happiness in this turbulent world, and giving us the important ability to help others.
Everyone is welcome!
