About this guided retreat

On this retreat, Kadam Lucy will guide the meditation sessions on Mahamudra, the blissful clarity of our mind. In between sessions, the silent retreat gives us a wonderful opportunity to deepen our mindfulness and inner peace.

Mahamudra meditation, rooted in the rich tradition of Buddhism, offers a journey toward profound insight and inner peace; and can be practiced by anyone. The benefits of Mahamudra extend far beyond mere relaxation or stress relief; it encompasses a profound shift in perspective, leading to greater wisdom, compassion, and freedom from suffering.

On this retreat we will learn how to unveil and meditate on the clarity, luminosity, and natural purity of our own mind, coming to rest in a deeply peaceful state of awareness. By discovering that there is far more space inside us than outside, we see our usual problems in perspective – a skill which can then permeate every aspect of our lives.

"Taking the mind as the object of meditation has a number of advantages. It makes it easier to attain tranquil abiding concentration, to overcome external distractions, and to realize emptiness." ~ Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, Clear Light of Bliss

About Silence

Silence is not just about not talking, it is about developing an inner quality of stillness.

In silence, we engage with the meditation object in a more intimate way. We stop ‘chatting’ about the Dharma from our mouth and start listening to the Dharma from deep within our heart which gives us a special inner experience of the teachings we receive. Penetrating insights arise and since we are able to hold onto them with firm mindfulness we find Dharma experience pervades and nourishes our heart at a very deep level.

During the Breaks

Between retreat sessions, take time to relax and carry your experience of peace in the following ways:

  • enjoy the tranquility of the beautiful mountain surroundings
  • nourish yourself with refreshing drinks and healthy snacks and lunch
  • the cool, refreshing Evergreen Lake is a 4 minute drive or a pretty 25 minute walk
