Buddha Tara—known as "the Swift One, the Heroine"—is a manifestation of the fearless wisdom of all enlightened beings. To come to our aid, she moves faster than wind; for countless generations people have relied upon her for protection against fears and anxieties, and for guidance, inspiration, and a steady source of encouragement. She is the perfect source of refuge for our troubled world.
The empowerment of Green Tara is granted via a blissful ritual meditation that has been passed down from generation to generation since the time of Buddha himself. We make a special connection with Tara’s omniscient mind, which quickly awakens the expansive potential within our own mind for fearlessness and bliss. We are also granted permission to engage in the Tantric practice of Tara through which we can revisit these feelings of wellbeing and peace whenever we want, and also become a refuge for others.
This special weekend continues with explanations and further guidance into the practice. Easily incorporated into our daily lives, relying on Buddha Tara as our holy mother will bring about all the inner changes we need for liberation and enlightenment.
Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy, whether you are a beginner or a seasoned meditator.
Kadam Lucy James will be granting the empowerment and giving the commentary. She has been a close disciple of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso for over 40 years and has taught Buddhism and meditation to thousands of people. Her empowerments are always blissful and inspiring!
Last but not least – this will be our very first empowerment in the incredible new building! And because Buddha Tara is an important Buddha in the Kadampa tradition, you will see that she is very prominent in our shrine.
This empowerment is not to be missed!
Our main teacher at KMC Colorado is Kadam Lucy James. One of the senior teachers of Kadampa Buddhism, Kadam Lucy has taught extensively in England, Florida, and San Francisco, and helped set up many thriving meditation centers since 1981. She is a leading expert in meditation and is regularly invited to teach courses around the United States and Europe due to her skill in presenting both simple and profound subjects with great clarity. For many years, one of her main jobs was to help with the editing and production of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s books, and she has engaged in extensive meditation retreat.
