Based on the teachings of the Summer Festival at Manjushri KMC with the Gen-las, Kadam Lucy will guide a 4-day retreat on the practice of Lamrim, the stages of the path to enlightenment, and how to integrate this into the practice of Tantra.
All Buddha's 84,000 teachings are included in Sutra and Tantra. Kadampa Buddhism, or modern Buddhism, emphasizes the union of Sutra and Tantra, which provides us with a holistic, complete, and quick path to enlightenment. Buddha’s Sutra teachings on renunciation, the good heart of bodhichitta, and emptiness are the foundation of Tantra, giving us the motivation and the wisdom needed to practice it; and Buddha’s Tantric teachings give our spiritual practice vision, bringing our Sutra insights alive. Sutra and Tantra are mutually supportive, and both accelerate and perfect each other.

For example, it is in Sutra that Buddha extensively explains how to realize emptiness, which is the beating heart of Tantra. If things existed from their own side, as more than mere projection of mind, then Tantra wouldn’t make any sense at all. But because the things we normally see do not exist, Tantra makes perfect sense.Kadam Lucy will explain how to practice Sutra and Tantra together, effectively and happily, in our daily meditations and our daily lives. An exceptional teacher, she will bring years of personal retreat experience to the talks and guided meditations.
Everyone is welcome! This retreat will be accessible and insightful for anyone with an interest in Buddhism, whether or not you attended the Summer Festival.
