About this Event

The better we get at opening our hearts to others, the more a natural happiness will arise inside. This will not only revolutionize our own personal lives and friendships, but bring joy into our wider world.

Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to hear Buddha’s teachings directly from an internationally renowned senior Buddhist monk.

This Mother’s Day we are hosting a heartwarming Sunday morning meditation class that celebrates the immense love and kindness of mothers. This special class offers a unique opportunity to honor and appreciate mothers, exploring the Buddhist teachings of compassion, selflessness, and unconditional love. The class is great as a reminder of what our mother’s mean to us but can also help us to see our mom’s in a new light! This event will included a delightful brunch, providing a joyful space for participants to come together, share stories, and express gratitude. Everyone Welcome.

Have you ever wanted to heal past wounds and move onwards with a clear, positive attitude? Shift old or painful habits of thinking and acting? Melt away obstacles to your spiritual practice? Spring clean your mind?!

We spend a lot of time and energy trying to avoid unhappiness and difficulties by changing our external world, yet still problems keep on coming. Why? Because their main cause is not external; they arise from the negative karma we have created in the past through our harmful intentions and actions.

The first Saturday in April is set aside to commemorate the founding of NKT-IKBU by Venerable Geshe Kelsang in 1991.

The occasion is marked by special events and by pujas and dedications at Kadampa centers worldwide.

Prayers are made for the flourishing of Kadam Dharma throughout the world so that all living beings might quickly find permanent inner peace.

Above all, we remember the extraordinary kindness of Venerable Geshe Kelsang in founding NKT-IKBU.

Many of us have an unhelpful inner critic, a painful habit of thinking that not only disturbs our mental peace but also holds us back from being the person we want to be or living the way we want to live. Through meditation and Buddha’s wisdom we can learn to recognize this inner critic in our life and our relationships, and let it go. By coming to accept ourselves happily within an understanding of our enormous capacity for freedom and growth, we can awaken a source of deep fulfillment from within.

The Pratimoksha vow is a moral discipline practice motivated by renunciation that is directly received from a qualified Preceptor. The heart of this practice is training in renunciation — the strong wish to attain permanent liberation from taking contaminated rebirth, samsara. "Pratimoksha" means individual liberation, so these are the vows of individual liberation.

By taking precepts or vows, all our actions become more powerful in causing happiness, purifying our mind, and providing a firm foundation for attaining liberation or full enlightenment.
