Upcoming Retreats & Special Events

Prayer & Party on Tuesdays

April 23 & May 14 | 7 - 8:30pm

These evenings will begin with a short talk and then a practice of chanted prayers and meditation associated with a particular Buddha. Through this practice we deepen our experience of meditation and our connection to joyful and empowering blessings. The puja includes a guided meditation and runs for about an hour. You may bring an offering of food or drink if you wish. Afterwards, we all head out to our community table for some refreshments and time to socialize.

Healthy Mind, Healthy Life
a meditation course with international meditation teacher Kadam Lucy James

Saturday, April 20th | 9:00am-3:30pm

In a world where stressors abound and the pressures of modern living can feel overwhelming, investing in our mental health is not just beneficial—it's essential. Learning meditation is one of the kindest things we can do for ourself for it allows us to approach all our daily activities peacefully and with a sense of purpose. If we really want to be a healthier, happier person, we need to prioritize developing healthy, happy habits.

Silencing the Inner Critic

A public talk in Golden, CO with Kadam Lucy James

Saturday, April 27th | 10:30-11:45am

Many of us have an unhelpful inner critic, a painful habit of thinking that not only disturbs our mental peace but also holds us back from being the person we want to be or living the way we want to live. Through meditation and Buddha’s wisdom we can learn to recognize this inner critic in our life and our relationships, and let it go. By coming to accept ourselves happily within an understanding of our enormous capacity for freedom and growth, we can awaken a source of deep fulfillment from within.

Clarity & Emptiness ~ Free yourself with wisdom

Rocky Mountain Retreat May 3-6 with visiting International teacher Gen Samten and Resident Teacher Kadam Lucy James

Often we feel stuck in painful habits of thought, perceiving our mind to be fixed and unchanging in its negative ways. During this rare and experiential retreat, we can learn how to dispel the clutter of our mind and the complications of our lives through meditating on the true nature of our mind. Abiding in the deep inner peace of this emptiness, there are no disturbing thoughts, no pain, no worry, no anger, no conflict, and no fear.

By meditating on our mind’s conventional nature, clarity, we can experience deeper and deeper levels of peace. Then by meditating on its ultimate nature, its emptiness of existing in a fixed, inherent way, we can quickly break free — uncovering our limitless potential for joyful transformation.

Grand Opening Neighborhood Celebration—FREE EVENT!

Saturday, May 11th | 7 - 8pm

Join us for an evening of celebration and community! We extend a heartfelt invitation to you and your family for the Neighborhood Celebration of our new urban Buddhist temple, Kadampa Meditation Center Colorado.

This special event, part of our Grand Opening celebrations, is an opportunity to introduce ourselves to our Denver neighbors, to thank everybody who has played a significant role in bringing this stunning project to life, and to offer a glimpse into the transformative experiences that await within this space. Kadam Lucy, our resident teacher, will share our vision moving forward and guide a simple 15-minute meditation for world peace.

Lay Pratimoksha Vow Ceremony

Sunday May 19th | 7:00-8:30pm

The Pratimoksha vow is a moral discipline practice motivated by renunciation that is directly received from a qualified Preceptor. The heart of this practice is training in renunciation — the strong wish to attain permanent liberation from taking contaminated rebirth, samsara. "Pratimoksha" means individual liberation, so these are the vows of individual liberation.

By taking precepts or vows, all our actions become more powerful in causing happiness, purifying our mind, and providing a firm foundation for attaining liberation or full enlightenment.
