About the Event
Join us for community building and powerful wisdom blessings in celebration of NKT Day! From 5:00 – 6:30pm we will engage in beautiful chanted prayers to Buddha Tara & short talk about the Kadampa tradition from Kadam Lucy.
Kadam Lucy will begin with a brief explanation of the practice, helping people understand its meaning and Buddha Tara's connection to Kadampa Buddhism and the people of this modern world.
After this inspiring and uplifting chanted meditation practice, we will have a vegetarian potluck to enjoy one another’s company and followed by a presentation from KMC Colorado's Administrative Director, Kate Franklin, about the progress made in the construction of our new building next to Sloan's Lake.
Please bring a vegetarian dish to share, if you can!
Saturday, April 2
5:00-6:30pm ~ Short talk with Kadam Lucy & Tara prayers
6:30-7:30pm ~ Potluck & community meeting
The first Saturday in April is set aside to commemorate the founding of NKT-IKBU by Venerable Geshe Kelsang in 1991.
The occasion is marked by special events and by pujas and dedications at Kadampa centers worldwide. Prayers are made for the flourishing of Kadam Dharma throughout the world so that all living beings might quickly find permanent inner peace.
Above all, we remember the extraordinary kindness of Venerable Geshe Kelsang in founding NKT-IKBU and pray for him to remain with us for a very long time.
Our main teacher at KMC Colorado is Kadam Lucy James. One of the senior teachers of Kadampa Buddhism, Kadam Lucy has taught extensively in England, Florida, and San Francisco, and helped set up many thriving meditation centers since 1981. She is regularly invited to teach courses around the United States and Europe due to her skill in presenting both simple and profound subjects with great clarity. For many years, one of her main jobs was to help with the editing and production of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s books, and she has engaged in extensive meditation retreat.
