About this Event

Have you ever wanted to heal past wounds and move onwards with a clear, positive attitude? Shift old or painful habits of thinking and acting? Melt away obstacles to your spiritual practice? Spring clean your mind?!

We spend a lot of time and energy trying to avoid unhappiness and difficulties by changing our external world, yet still problems keep on coming. Why? Because their main cause is not external; they arise from the negative karma we have created in the past through our harmful intentions and actions.

By connecting with the transcendent Buddha of purification, Vajrasattva, we can dissolve away our bad habits, negativity, sickness, and obstacles, allowing our own mind’s natural purity and joy to shine through. Through purifying our mind, we will gradually come to experience a radiant world and lasting inner freedom.

During this very special weekend we will receive the empowerment of Buddha Vajrasattva, along with inspiring, practical teachings on karma and purification practice.

What is an empowerment?

An empowerment bestows upon us special blessings that heal our mental continuum and awaken our Buddha nature. This gives us a taste of the inner freedom and universal love experienced by an enlightened mind, which, however brief to begin with, is invaluable, for it lets us see what’s possible.

After an introduction, the empowerment will be transmitted via an inspiring guided meditation passed down from generation to generation since the time of Buddha himself. Everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy, whether you are a beginner or a seasoned meditator.

The Sadhana

During the weekend, we will be using Meditation & Recitation of Solitary Vajrasattva prayers. You can purchase the prayer booklet, including the paperback or digital version as well as the audio recording through Tharpa Publications.

Who is Buddha Vajrasattva?

Buddha Vajrasattva is a manifestation of Buddha Vajradhara, the founder of Tantra. Buddha Shakyamuni is the founder of Buddhism in this world, but when he gave Tantric teachings he manifested as Buddha Vajradhara. The Tantric teachings are the quick path to enlightenment, by which we can attain enlightenment in this very life.

Vajrasattva is the purified consciousness of all the Buddhas, and by replying upon him we can purify our own minds, at which point there is no basis for us to experience any kind of pain or suffering.

Vajrasattva Retreat ~ Dec.10-14

You are welcome to participate in the Vajrasattva retreat! During the week of Dec. 10-14th, we will be holding a partly guided retreat on the purification practice of Buddha Vajrasattva, gaining valuable and enjoyable experience of Buddhist purification practice and learning to incorporate this practice into our lives.
