About the Event
During this wonderful weekend event, Kadam Lucy will grant the blessing empowerment of White Tara, a female enlightened being who bestows long life, good fortune, and wisdom. The empowerment is a blissful guided meditation through which we will make a deep connection with Buddha Tara and receive her healing, joyful, and protective blessings.
We need a long life to fulfill all our spiritual wishes, we need wisdom to free ourselves and others from our daily pain and problems, and we need good fortune or positive energy to achieve a long-lasting experience of inner peace and happiness. In the teaching and practice sessions Kadam Lucy will give a commentary to Buddha Tara practice and how we can rely upon this beautiful Buddha to have these blessings throughout our life.
Included in the teachings will also be an amazing exploration of Buddha’s teachings on momentary or subtle impermanence, as taught by Venerable Geshe-la in his commentary to White Tara. Through this wisdom we can learn to let go of the past, live in the moment, and dissolve away all limiting perceptions of ourself, other people, and life itself!
“If we understand subtle impermanence, the momentary disintegration of things, we shall understand that what appear to our mind yesterday has ceased to exist and what appear to our mind right now is completely new.” -Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche
This is going to be a memorable event! Everyone is welcome.
Try and attend at least the empowerment live if you can, but note that sessions will remain available for a week after the event.
Who is White Tara
White Tara is a female enlightened being whose function is to bestow long life, wisdom and good fortune. These oppose our three main obstacles to a meaningful life – a short life, ignorance, and little merit.
If we rely on White Tara with faith, she will protect us from contagious disease, the danger of fire, and other disasters. It is said that living beings receive Tara’s help as swiftly as the wind moves because she is a manifestation of the wind element of all the Buddhas.
During the retreat we will be using the above prayer booklet, available from Tharpa Publications. Please consider purchasing the downloadable version for the empowerment commentary for the fastest delivery. During the commentary the prayer booklet will help you understand the practice much better.
